Full Circle Farming
with Aquaponics

At Tiny Harvest, we’re always thinking about what’s next, how we can grow better, greener, and more sustainably. That’s why we’re so excited to share a glimpse into the next chapter of our journey: a full-circle aquaponics system that brings together fish, plants, and people in perfect harmony.

This system is already in motion at our farm, and while it’s still in development, the results are promising, and pretty delicious.

What Is Aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a sustainable farming method that combines aquaculture (raising fish) with hydroponics (growing plants in water).

Here’s how it works:

  • We raise freshwater fish like tilapia and catfish in large, clean tanks.
  • As the fish live and grow, they naturally release waste, especially through their gills.
  • This nutrient-rich water is then filtered and directed to nourish our plants.
  • The plants, in turn, absorb these nutrients, cleaning the water.
  • That clean water is filtered again and returned to the fish tanks, completing the cycle.

No soil. No chemical fertilisers. No waste. Just nature doing what it does best, with a little help from smart design.

What We’re Growing

Our aquaponics system opens up a new world of crops that aren’t typically grown with microgreens—including some special varieties we’re really excited about.

You’ll soon see:

Lettuce and Wasabi Lettuce

Crisp, clean, and packed with flavour, these greens thrive in our aquaponics setup and stay fresh longer thanks to the controlled environment.

Herbs

From basil and parsley to coriander and dill, we’re growing an array of herbs that are as fragrant as they are fresh.

Tomatoes, including rare Black Tomatoes

Juicy and full of flavour, our tomatoes are grown in sand beds rather than soil, allowing for great root support and water efficiency.

Chillies and Peppers

These bold beauties do incredibly well in aquaponic systems, giving us the heat and sweetness we love without the environmental impact of traditional farming.

We’re using sand-based grow beds instead of soil, which reduces pests and disease while still giving the plants a stable base to root in.

It also allows us to use and reuse water more efficiently, keeping everything as clean and sustainable as possible.

Why Aquaponics?

This approach to farming reflects everything we value at Tiny Harvest: innovation, sustainability, and care.

  • Zero waste: Every drop of water is reused in the system. Nothing is dumped or wasted.
  • No artificial fertilisers: The fish provide all the nutrients our plants need.
  • Lower footprint: Because everything happens in a closed-loop environment, we use less water and energy overall.
  • Year-round harvests: Like our microgreens, these crops will be grown indoors or under controlled conditions, meaning we can produce fresh food regardless of season or weather.
It’s a farming method that’s as good for the planet as it is for your plate.

A Taste of What’s to Come

We’re still scaling up and fine-tuning this part of the farm, but we’re already growing our first rounds of produce and testing everything to make sure the flavour, freshness, and quality are up to our standards.

Once we’re ready to launch, you’ll be the first to know. Whether you’re a home cook, a local restaurant, or a health-conscious foodie looking for the freshest ingredients possible, our aquaponic produce will soon be available alongside our microgreens.

At Tiny Harvest, we believe that small changes lead to big impacts. This next step in our farming journey is about more than growing a few extra crops, it’s about reimagining how food can be grown with minimal waste and maximum care.

Stay tuned. A new way to farm is growing, right here at Tiny Harvest.
